Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush
You must literally be living on the moon if you have not heard of the wonder that is the Tarte blush. Every US blogger and vlogger raves about them but unfortunately, as of yet, Tarte are not available here in Ireland. When I was over in Florida, I actually ended up visiting quite a few Tarte counters but each time balked at the $26 price tag. Of course, that is less than twenty euro to us but I just couldn’t figure out what could be so magical about this blush to make it deserving of that cost. Also, all of the shades that I heard about endlessly online didn’t seem incredibly awe-inspiring in person. I imagined the infamous ‘Exposed’ would look like a rather dirty brown on my fair skin and the ever-talked-about ‘Tipsy’ was a scarily intense bright orange. A few shades did catch my eye but on closer inspection, they revealed a multitude of glitter particles. I eventually caved and decided to purchase just one as I knew I would regret it otherwise. The shade I opted for was ‘Doll Face’.

The packaging is simple enough – a round compact which clicks closed satisfyingly and actually verges on the hard side of opening. The color of the compact corresponds to the colour of the blush which is great if you happen to have a few and would make finding the one you want in your drawer a lot easier. Inside is a very decent sized mirror which takes up the entire lid. The blush itself is embossed and holds the Tarte logo.

‘Doll Face’ is described on the website as a ‘light pink’. It is a gorgeous matte baby pink and looked easy to wear which is why I opted for it.

Tarte’s blushes contain Amazonian Clay – apparently harvested from the banks of the Amazon River and naturally baked by the sun. It is said to minimise oil, balance the skin and hydrate naturally.

The first thing I noticed was how lightly it applied. This is definitely one for those scared of blush or looking for something extremely natural. I found I had to build it up quite a bit just to see it. The good thing is, however, that is builds very easily and I do believe you could work it up to be quite strong as well. While I love intensely pigmented blush, I also love these buildable ones as they are practically fool-proof.

I don’t think the photos do great justice to the colour but it swatches pretty true to pan. My favourite thing about this blush is that it does not fade throughout the day. AT ALL. I can often over-apply blush in the morning to find it gone by lunchtime but even after a long, late shift in work, I have found I still have a beautiful healthy flush with this. In fact, I don’t know if I have ever used another blush that has lasted so well throughout the entire day. The fact that it does this with even the lightest application really shows its power.

A blush is a blush is a blush, you may think but this one’s wear time definitely makes it stand out above the rest and I will definitely pick up another shade or two if I get the chance in future. Well worth the hype.

What do you think? Have you managed to get your hands on one of these? How much would you spend on a blush?
