Friday Face 11th April 2014

This entire look was influenced by the lipstick. I loved its orange-coral colour and decided to go for an orange-tinted eye to match. While I do like this look, it would definitely look better on someone with blue eyes as the orange tones will make them positively pop out of their head!

I began with my usual base of Benefit’s The POREfessional. Then I applied my Revlon Colorstay in ‘Ivory’ and Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in ‘Light’ with my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. I used my Real Techniques Blush Brush to press my Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in to my T-zone. I used the same brush to contour under my cheekbones, underneath my chin and along the top of my forehead with my Sleek Face Contour Kit in ‘Light’. To keep with the orange theme, I used the same brush yet again to add a touch of Nars Blush in ‘Deep Throat’ along the tops of my cheekbones. This doubles as a highlighter as it has a gorgeous sheen to it that leaves skin looking fresh.

My eyebrows are my usual. I began my combing them through with the spoolie from my Benefit Instant Brow Pencil. I then used a Mac 266 to shape them with my NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder in ‘Black/Gray’. To finish them and hold them in place, I added my Benefit Gimme Brow.

For the eyes, I dug out my Inglot eyeshadows. I began by dusting #351 all over the entire eye area – this is a matte cream shade not too dissimilar to my skin tone. I like using it all over as it really brightens the eye area and can often work as a natural under eye highlighter. I then used a flat eyeshadow brush to press #393 all over the lid. This is a pearlescent cream shade that leans slightly yellow in some lights. I love to use a light pearl shade on the lid as when the light hits it can really make the eyes look bigger. I carved out the crease with a Mac 217 Blending Brush and #368, a matte pale orange shade and applied it underneath the eye as well. This is the step crucial for those with blue eyes – the colour was absolutely designed for them! To intensify the look a little, I added a small touch of #52. This is a matte brown with the smallest hint of microglitter that usually doesn’t even show up at all. I used the same 217 brush to add a touch of this to the outer V as well as underneath the eye. I didn’t so much want the colour to show up – I just wanted the definition. I also used my Mac 266 Angled Brush to draw this colour along the outer corner of my bottom lashes. I added my Collection Work The Colour Eyeshadow Pencil in ‘Vanilla Sky’ to my waterline to really open the eye and make it look bright. I then added a slick of Inglot Gel Liner along my upper lash line, flicking it out and my No7 Fanomenal Lash Mascara to both my upper and lower lashes.

I finished up with the piece de resistance, the lipstick. This is Wet n Wild’s Megalast Lip Color in ‘Coral-ine’. Isn’t it stunning?! I am not usually a fan of orange in general – it’s just not my kind of colour but I adore this lipstick. I love this entire look actually – it is an interesting take on a neutral look and despite using colour, I don’t think it is too out there for every day wear.

What do you think? Am I mad? Do you ever rock oranges? Do you wear colour every day?
