There has been quite a buzz surrounding this product since it appeared on TV3’s Xpose a week or two ago. Promising to deliver fuller yet natural-looking brows, it seems like the wonder product we have all been waiting for. When I headed along to the Benefit Boutique for an event last week, I was absolutely delighted to get one to take home and try.
Inside the vibrant pink box is this small tube which resembles that of a mascara. The polka dot print follows through from the box and the tube itself reflects the colour inside. It is only available in two shades, light or deep which they claim covers all bases – something I would instinctively have to question. I received the darker of the two shades.
The lid reveals this miniscule tiny wand which is the absolute perfect size for combing through your brows. I find that regular mascara-size wands have a tendency to blob product all over my face. The idea behind this is simple; the formula contains tiny fibres which create the look of real hairs when applied. They are also said to stick to both skin and hair so they will fill in any gaps and give you naturally fuller-looking brows. It is also easy to apply – you simply brush it through your brows and can build it up to whatever density you prefer.
The left photograph shows my brow without any product whatsoever. I simply combed it through and the second shows it after using Gimme Brow. I like a really defined brow and so I did build it up quite considerably – which still takes half the time of using a pencil and powder. I was really impressed with how defined it looked. I have never used a brow gel which did anything more than add the slightest hint of colour.
My one issue was the front of my brow which is quite sparse. Despite all of their promises, I wasn’t majorly impressed with how it filled it in as I still thought it looked a little gappy. I think in future I may add a little powder there first before applying the gel. We were informed at the Benefit event that it can be used in conjunction with a powder or pencil but to be honest, I was really impressed with it by itself.
It definitely held my brows in place all day which is no mean feat as they can be quite unruly. It also didn’t leave my brows feeling hard or crunchy and it removed easily at the end of the day.
So here it goes, I do believe they invented quite a wonder product, deserving of the hype. It will cost you though, €24.50 is the damage which is quite substantial and I do wonder how long the small tube will last but to me, it is well worth it. It saves me a lot of time in the morning and is practically fool-proof to use.
And here is a photo from my Friday Face where you can see it in action properly.
What do you think? Are you a fan of brow gels? Would this one tickle your fancy?
