As I am only back from Florida, I actually haven’t had a chance to take photographs for a Friday Face this week so I have decided to cheat and use photos from my holiday. It is not cheating really as it was a face I wore during the week and I have multiple pictures of it throughout the day so you can also see how it holds up. I had been to Sephora and bought new products only the day before so I had quite a few of them in action too. In case you can’t tell these photos were taken at Disneyworld and this also happened to be the day I got engaged so this is makeup to wear to get proposed to! Haha.
I started with my Nars Sheer Glow Foundation in ‘Siberia’ which I had bought the day before. I have been lusting after it for quite some time but could never justify the price tag – that is until I went to the US where things are positively CHEAP (in comparison, anyway). First impressions; it is neither sheer nor glowy but I will have a full review up in the coming weeks. I applied some of my Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer on top wherever necessary and added a touch of Catrice All Matt Plus Shine Control Powder, mainly on my nose – I really didn’t use too much at all.
I think I was attempting to look excited here but doesn’t it act well as a closed-eye eyeshadow photo? I did my usual brows using my Benefit Instant Brow Pencil in ‘Deep’ and NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder in ‘Black/Gray’. I then used all eyeshadows from my new favourite palette, the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette! I started with ‘White Chocolate’, a matte cream as a base for everything. I then opted for ‘Champagne Truffle’, a light pink champagne shimmer all over the lid and right into the inner corner, as well as under the brow as a highlight, on my cupid’s bow and a smidge on the tip of my nose. This was my first time using this palette and in hindsight, this colour was way too shimmery for this purpose but you live and learn! I then buffed ‘Milk Chocolate’, a light matte taupe through the crease and used ‘Semi-Sweet’, a medium brown to intensify that a little more. I then finished with ‘Triple Fudge’, a really dark matte brown in the outer V and underneath the eye for extra definition. I used my Inglot Gel Liner in ’77 Matte Black’ on the upper and lower waterlines as well as to create my flick. I finished with some Maybelline Volum’Express The Falsies Black Drama Mascara.
On my cheeks, I went for my usual Sleek Face Contour Kit to add some definition. I also used my new Nars Blush in ‘Torrid’ which is a gorgeous peach that I will be reviewing soon. I finished up with my Lancome L’Absolu Rouge in ‘132 Caprice’ on the lips – the perfect shade to match my mouse ears, although that was completely unintentional! I really liked my makeup that day and funnily enough, when we were waiting in line to get on a ride, a random girl approached me just to compliment my makeup. It was really sweet but Boyfriend was in complete shock. He was like “Why did she do that?” Hahaha. It definitely made me consider paying people random compliments like that as it can really brighten someone’s day – well, until the proposal that is. Nothing could really beat that!
And here’s a picture at the very end of the day (although about half an hour before the proposal) to show you how it all held up. I think it was really good, considering the lipstick was the only thing I touched up!
What do you think? Are you a fan of a red lip? Are you excited about the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette?
