I always forget how much I love a good grey eyeshadow- it is just something I don’t often reach for but whenever I do, I always fall in love again. Paired with a nude lip and a stripey top and you could almost call it a modern Bardot look.
I began by applying my Maybelline The Eraser Eye over any redness or blemishes on my face. I like to use this as a sort of tinted primer to cover the worst of my imperfections, meaning I don’t have to wear as much foundation. I then went in with my beloved Revlon Colorstay in ‘Ivory’. I have temporarily misplaced my sponge so had to use a flat foundation brush and was definitely not as impressed with the results as I usually am. I then used my Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer under my eyes to further brighten them. I pressed my Catrice All Matt Plus Shine Control Powder all over my face to set everything in place with a large eyeshadow buffing brush. To finish, I sprayed my face with my Vichy Thermal Water to take away the cakey, powdery look and add a glow to my skin.
For my brows, I went in with Benefit Instant Brow Pencil in ‘Deep’, this is a new product I am trying at the minute but am absolutely loving how defined it makes my brows. I then set it in place with my NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder in ‘Black/Grey’.
I began by priming my eyes with Benefit’s Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner in ‘Gossip’, a lavender shade. This may seem a little silly as I’m not applying any purple shadows on top but I really think it added a little something to the grey and warmed up the crease. I went on to use eyeshadows from my Urban Decay Vice 2 Palette. I patted ‘Derailed’, that gunmetal silver-grey, all over the lid with a flat eyeshadow brush. I then used a Mac 217 Brush to buff ‘Rewind’, a light matte brown into the crease to blend out the edges. Underneath the brow, I applied ‘Dope’, a shimmering champagne, really lightly as it is slightly too dark for my skin tone. I took ‘Smokeout’, a satin charcoal, underneath the eyes for a very smokey effect and then used ‘Lovesick’, a black with silver sparkles in the outer corner to add dimension.
I finished the eyes by applying Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in ‘Perversion’ on my upper and lower waterline, Inglot’s Eyeliner Gel in ’77 Matte Black’ along my upper lashlines and Maybelline’s The Falsies Black Drama Mascara on my top and bottom lashes.
To sculpt my face I used my trusty Sleek Face Contour Kit in ‘Light’ and then used a Catrice Defining Blush in ‘020 Rose Royce’ along my cheekbones. It is my favourite blush at the moment as it adds such a natural flush of colour to the cheeks. On the lips, I used my Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer in ‘Nude Eclipse’. Ever since I picked up some new shades, I have fallen back in love with the formula.
So what do you think? Do you ever opt for grey eyeshadow? Are you a fan of a dark eye and nude lip?
