I cannot say no to a free product and when my mother recently asked me if I wanted this eye make-up remover, it was in my possession faster than you can say Boots No 7 Cleanse and Care Eye Make-Up Remover. I was actually in the market for a separate eye make up remover from my cleanser but it was just one of those things I never remembered to pick up when I was shopping.
Underneath the giant plastic lid is a pump dispenser! Hurrah! This is so handy for pumping product out on to a cotton pad and it doesn’t squirt very much at a time. This means less waste product. Depending on how much eye makeup you are wearing, I find three to four pumps does the job.
On the cotton pad, I thought that this looked quite water-based but on the skin you can definitely feel a slight oiliness to it which helps dissolve the makeup. This isn’t a one-swipe process, definitely not with the amount of eye makeup I wear anyway but a little gentle rubbing removes everything easily enough. I did find that it could take a little extra scrub to remove my gel liner flicks but nothing too vigorous. I find that this product has a tendency to move the old makeup around a little, resulting in panda eyes but it really is just a little residue and I would always use a toner afterwards anyway so it is no big deal. Even if you don’t tone, whatever you are using to remove the rest of your facial makeup will get this right off.
It leaves a slight moistness on the skin but not an overly greasy or oily residue like I have experienced with offerings from other brands. If anything it is a little hydrating which shouldn’t be surprising as this does promise to “condition” while cleansing. It has no discernible scent which I think is a plus in skin care.
In all I have been impressed with this product as in the evenings I know I can look forward to a fuss-free makeup removal. Sadly, now that I go to check the price, I see that Boots have discontinued this product and replaced it with a Beautiful Skin Eye Make Up Remover which retails for €11 but according to the reviews on the site does not match the quality of this one.
What do you think? Have you tried this? What’s your favourite eye makeup remover?
