I recently posted about the Deep Hydrating Conditioner from this natural Italian haircare brand and a day or two later, received this shampoo in the post. This shampoo is part of the Rosemary and Lavender Purifying and Detoxinating line, designed to treat oily scalps or dandruff conditions. Now I love the idea of these detoxifying shampoos as I enjoy the idea of getting a really good clean and this shampoo promises to remove all traces of styling products and pollution while the rosemary, eucalyptus, lavender and sandal essential oils restore the delicate acid mantle of the scalp.
The first thing that hit me about this was the scent. I was so infatuated with the fennel scent of the conditioner that I couldn’t wait to get my nose into this bottle. Naturalmente do not use any synthetic perfumes, being all natural. The fragrance of this shampoo is incredibly strong and quite herbal. I feel it similar to the scent of health shops – almost medicinal. While it would definitely not be my favourite smell in the world, it is not particularly unpleasant and it really makes it feel like a very natural experience when you use it. I believe because it smells strong and medicinal that it will be strong and really work well on my hair.
The shampoo is quite a thick clear gel which lathers well on wet hair, although Naturalmente state that this shampoo can also be applied to dry hair for a really deep cleanse. It also rinses out easily enough and afterwards my hair and scalp felt completely squeaky clean. I don’t feel that this is very harsh or stripping on the hair but I still definitely felt like my hair could do with a good conditioner afterwards.
I can suffer with quite an itchy scalp and as I scratch it, it can lead to dandruff patches. However since using this shampoo, while the itch is still sometimes there, my scalp has not been coming away in flakes like it has done previously, which is a Godsend considering I have black hair.
In all, I couldn’t be happier with this shampoo. It really gets a deep cleanse and it cleared up my scalp, as promised. Naturalmente use no parabens, formaldehyde, diethanolamine, sodium laurel sulfate or sodium laurel ether sulfate. They also do not test on animals and their ingredients are all sourced from sustainable protected resources and are all vegetarian friendly. Their packaging is biodegradable and does not emit toxins if burned so honestly, what is not to like?!
So far in Ireland they are only stocking in Vaughans, Limerick and Ecco Hair, Bambridge but I am sure a little online research could turn up a supplier or two.
What do you think? Are you a fan of a deep cleansing shampoo? And what do you think of all these new natural brands coming out?
