Apologies for the post going up late today, there have been a few issues at GlamourNazi HQ this week – notably, we have been without electricity and running water since Monday. Luckily (and finally!) these issues were resolved this afternoon and boy, am I glad that I schedule posts ahead of time so there hasn’t been much disruption here on the blog.
Anyway, back to the face at hand…or something. This week is all about the burgundy eyes which I am currently OBSESSED with. Completely and utterly infatuated with. I have been wearing this look (or one very similar) for the past two or three weeks, practically daily. I am all about those Autumn burgundies.
To begin, I used my IsaDora Under Cover Face Primer which I still love but is sadly reaching its end. I simply pop a little on my fingers and focus it on my T-zone and shiny bits. Excitingly enough, I am trialling a new foundation at the minute – that is the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Full Coverage Foundation in ‘Ivory’ and I will be reviewing it in full soon enough. I applied it using my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge and used that to also buff in my Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer around my eye area and my Catrice Camouflage Cream on any blemishes or pigmentation. I finished with a very small fluffy eyeshadow brush and my Catrice All Matt Plus Shine Control Powder to mattify.
My brows are a little different today. I have been using the NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder (yes, that’s really what it’s called) in Black/Grey which is quite a scary shade title. They look a bit wonky in this photo as I used the supplied brush but have been using the kit every day this week and think I’m a fan. Again, there will be a full review coming soon.
To begin on the eyes, I used my NYX Jumbo Pencil in ‘Rust’ – applying it straight from the pencil all over the lid and blending it in with my finger. To be honest, this step is completely optional as it makes no difference to the shadow on top which is a very similar colour and has the same pearlescent finish. I wanted to see if it would add a little something extra but really I could have used any base or none at all for the exact same look.
The gorgeous burgundy is an Inglot Eyeshadow in the shade ‘452’ and if there is one colour you want from the brand, it is this one. [I am also a huge fan of ‘450’ which is a more red, less burgundy version of this.] I applied ‘452’ all over the lid with a stiff brush and buffed out the edges with a Mac 217. I also applied some of the same shade under the eye.You could totally leave it like this but I wanted a little more definition so used the 217 brush to apply the smallest hint of a matte black (Inglot’s ’63’) on the outer edges. It is barely noticeable but just adds some depth.
I lined my upper and lower waterlines with my IsaDora Twist Up Metallic Eye Pen in ‘Deep Black’, a colour I am loving lately as it contains miniscule glitter particles that catch in my lashes and just add a little something sparkly to the mix. I have also gone back to using my Maybelline Gel Liner with a great ELF brush that I’ll be writing about on here soon. Maybe my liquid liner is getting old but I have been finding it difficult to get a clean line with and am in love with the precision of my gel liner once more. I finished with Diego Dalla Palma’s Mascaragogo on my top and bottom lashes. (Apologies for the blobs – I was rushing to work and didn’t notice until afterwards.)
On my cheeks, I was trialling my new Sleek Blush in ‘Suede’ which turned out to be more of a contour colour so I focused it under my cheekbones as well as along them a little. I then used my fingertips to pat some Mac Cream Colour Base in ‘Pearl’ along the very tops of them for a stunning highlight that I fall in love with every time I use.
I finished by lining and filling in my lips with my Essence Lipliner in ‘In The Nude’ and topping with a Sally Hansen Lip Inflation in ‘Sheer Blush’. This is a newbie to my collection but I have been wearing it non-stop and again, I will review it soon. That seems to be a lot of upcoming posts I better get writing!
What do you think? Are you a fan of burgundy eyeshadows? And more importantly, do you own Inglot’s ‘452’ yet?!
