Some days I like to keep my makeup simple – thinking of techniques and colours I use to use often and revisiting them. Today’s look featuring a really simple eye look that I used to use daily last year and as it is quite pin-up inspired, I paired it with a classic red lip.
For my skin I used my Revlon Colorstay Foundation for Normal/Dry Skin in ‘Buff’ in conjunction with my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. I used my Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer under my eyes and buffed it in with the same sponge before covering any blemishes with my Catrice Camouflage Cream and my fingertip. I then used my regular Catrice All Matt Plus Shine Control Powder with my Real Techniques Blush Brush. I contoured under my cheekbones and around my forehead using the same brush and my Sleek Face Contour Kit and added Nars Blush in ‘Deep Throat’ along my cheekbones, again using that same brush, as I really like the way peachy-tones complement a red lip.
My brows are my usual Inglot Eyeshadows in 63 Matte Black and 329 Matte Dark Brown which I use on a Mac 266 Angled Brush. I then used a flat shadow brush to pack on a mixture of Mac’s Eyeshadow in ‘Gesso’ and ‘Vanilla’ all over the lid from lashes to brow. I used Mac’s ‘Shroom’ on the same brush as an inner corner highlight and underneath the brow. In the crease, I blended a mixture of Mac’s ‘Omega’ and ‘Wedge’ eyeshadows using a 217 brush. I would often use ‘Omega’ alone in the crease as it is very cool-toned and can often resemble a natural shadow but I decided to warm it up by adding ‘Wedge’ as well which is a similar shade but very warm. I took a small amount of this under the eye as well. I then took my Mac 266 brush again and used my matte Inglot black to define my lower lash line. I smudged Urban Decay’s 24/7 Pencil in ‘Zero’ into both my upper and lower lashlines. I then really messed up my liner on the top lash line which is Rimmel’s Exaggerate Eyeliner and applied Diego Dalla Palma’s Mascaragogo on both my top and bottom lashes after I curled them.
To finish the look, I wanted the perfect red so lined my lips with my Illamasqua Medium Pencil in ‘Feisty’ and applied my Essence Longlasting Lipstick in ‘Dare To Wear’ on top. I will be reviewing those lipsticks soon but let me tell you in advance, it’s love!
And when going through my folder of looks for today’s Friday Face I found this look which is very similar. All of the photographs I took of this look are really bad quality – thank you Winter lighting, or lack thereof – so I hope you can make this one out. All base products are the same but I only applied ‘Omega’ in the crease and the lip colour is ’03 Revenge’ by Collection, from their ‘Gothic Glam’ range. This just goes to show how versatile this look is and how different you can make it by simply changing up the lip colour.
What do you think? Are you a fan of a classic pin up look? What lip colour would you pair with it?
