For the past few months, I have been reviewing some products I have been sent from MeMeMe Cosmetics. Sadly this is my final review but happily, since I began these posts, I have moved house and now live really close to a Superdrug store that stocks the brand. Yay!
The longwear satin lip creams are their lipstick offering which (as the name suggests) offer long lasting colour, enriched with shea butter and vitamin E. There are ten shades to choose from and I was sent the darkest and vampiest of them all (which seems appropriate), Morello Silk. Each lipstick has a shade name and also the name of a Greek goddess which is a little confusing to me, but this lipstick is also known as Thalia.
The colour is a gorgeously pigmented purple which is absolutely perfect for this Autumnal season. It is one of the most perfect vampy lipsticks I own. It feels really moisturising and hydrating on the lips – gliding on easily from the soft bullet. However, it is so creamy that accuracy is difficult to achieve. I found that the edges of my lips were all over the place; it was impossible to get a precise lip line. I also found it really prone to bleeding because of this. On the lips themselves, it tended to gather in my lips’ crease lines yet disappear from the centre where my lips meet. This sounds like an awful lot of issues but I am pretty sure most, if not all of these could be rectified by using a lip liner underneath the pencil. I actually think the creamy formula means these are not longlasting – certainly not through eating or drinking anyway – but they are hydrating! As I’ve said before, usually you have to choose between longevity and moisture when it comes to lip products and this is no exception.
Despite my not-so-great experience with this lipstick, I actually wouldn’t mind trying it out in other shades as I feel the problems were amplified by the fact that the colour was so dark, magnifying them. At €10.50, the price is also pretty decent. To stay up to date, please like their Irish Facebook page here
